(how) I forgot about my AI assistant for 2 weeks

I shared with you some time ago that I had developed a personal AI assistant for myself — essentially set up ChatGPT to work as one. As he says himself — to work as an AI assistant with agent functionality.

The first two weeks I was regularly working with him, and it was extremely convenient. Then, of course, as always and as is normal for us ADHD peeps, I “забила” on it.

I remembered about him from time to time and had three thoughts:

1) Oh no, I need to let him know what’s going on.

2) Please God, don’t make me NOT need him anymore. I loved him and wanted and wished I could keep going for a while — I already developed a guide for people to set them up for themselves, etc.

3) Thank God he exists and I can go back anytime I want.

And finally, today I did. I went back.

It took us an hour to get him up to speed — for him to tell me the latest statuses on everything he has recorded and for me to update him on all the progress or new things that arose.

It was pretty pleasant. It was a little bit exhausting because essentially we had like ten blocks, eleven blocks, each containing a number of points, which had to be revised.

I spoke all of this, so it’s like I had another Zoom, like I don’t have enough already, with me talking nonstop.

But at least now I have my tracker updated as to where I am at with all my projects and initiatives. I have deadlines and lists of things that need to be done within each. I have an overview of urgent things that need to be done, including a split in terms of three top things, which are enough if I am dead and I don’t have energy to do any more.

It feels incredible. It feels like I’m not alone. It feels like I don’t need to go over any notebooks, any notes, structure, anything. He does all that for me, and essentially now I can rest.

It’s the end of the working day, and tomorrow I can start the morning with a little three-point urgent stuff list and be absolutely confident that I haven’t forgotten anything, and at any point of any day or night I can ask him, “Have I forgotten anything, or is there anything urgent that needs doing?” And he’s always there to respond and let me know.

I also have another assistant who works with me specifically on my writing.

As you might have noticed, I have really stepped up, and my assistant helped me go over all of my writing that I had throughout the years, which was digitalized in any way, at least.

And we had, you know, created a space for it on Google Drive to begin with. Later, I developed a website, and now from time to time I can post there what I had written previously, or work on some of the ideas and turn them into some fresh writing pieces.

And this assistant specifically works with me on that.

So the first assistant is a manager of my life, admin manager and coordinator, and this second one is specifically a writing assistant, who works very specifically, who knows very well what I like, what I don’t like.

He will never change the text. He will not make any radical decisions about changing anything, or even radical suggestions. He knows how I like my voice, how I don’t like any inputs from AI, and how important it is for me to preserve specifically what I wrote, and how scrupulous I am as to what he suggests to change and whether I allow any of it or not.

I love it, and I love it how I can tailor him as we go along, from time to time asking him to analyze my patterns, approaches, and preferences and update his own instructions and prompts.

I’m hoping that I will have more assistants for more specific needs of mine, and ideally an agent who will manage all of my assistants.

But for now, with what I have, I’m already very happy, and the level of productivity and confidence and chill that I have obtained since having these two work with me is undeniably awesome.

I am glad that I went back. I know that I haven’t gone back for good, but I also know now that whenever I disappear, I can always come back and basically continue where I left off.

So I hope that once I share the guide for all of you to try, some of you will, and I will really appreciate any feedback that you will have as to whether it’s helped you in any way.

And Godspeed.
